Unless you are young, single, have no social or family life, and enjoy being used and pushed around, DO NOT WORK HERE. Preline is especially toxic, the team lead is condescending and lazy. How can you do your job if he cant do his and treats you like a child?
HR will lie to you. They are reading a script to get you in the door. As a 2nd shifter, the schedule is SUPOSED to be M-TH, 10 hr days, with OCCASIONAL overtime (as stated to my face in both my interviews before I was hired) At almost at a year employed, and all but 5 Fridays have been manditory. 1st shift is no better as Saturdays are forced for them, so enjoy your one day off.
Any gratification you get for being part of serving the fire and emergency community is quickly dashed once you realize what Pierce is doing. The rule is that you must be logged into a truck when at work, and cannot log off until 5 minutes before shift end, even if you're not actually working (i.e parts for your job are backordered, you have an open bay, or engineering has messed up yet again and stopped production)
They charge these firehouses per hours of labor, so 5 hours on something you couldn't accomplish still gets charged. I'd pretty much call that stealing. Also sheds light on why all the OT, there is a reason they're always hiring....think about it.
The elevated pay scale is to coax you in. They are hoping you accept and deal with the garbage long enough where you cant afford the pay cut to leave, then you're under their thumb. High deductible health plan is also a joke. $4000 deductible with no other options.
So if you've read this far, and still think you should apply, have at it I guess. I hope I at least convinced a few to not make the same mistake I did. I cant wait to give a 2 weeks notice.
