Pros
There are good people in operations that want to do the right thing for the customer. Good pharmacy consultants. The benefits were pretty standard for a company of that size.
Cons
PharMerica has unrealistic expectations in the current long term care environment. Customers are not going to pay that much extra for all the value added services that PharMerica promotes as being the difference between them and the rest of the marketplace. The pricing and contracting process is a part of the Sales Prevention Department along with the rest of the Sales Admin. There is a lot of pressure to convert business as soon as possible for a sell cycle that usually last over a year. If you enjoy hunting, finding opportunities and closing business, PharMerica or any other pharmacy service is not for you. The training programs are suspect at best, if you do not have a LTC background forget it. There is also a complete disconnect of operations and sales/account management sides and consulting pharmacist, they work in 3 different silos yet all face the customer.
