Pros
- The people (on the whole) are what makes the agency. The vibe is friendly and supportive, and teams become close friends very quickly. There are plenty of opportunities to go for drinks/social events as perks of the job. - Great exposure and support for exec level, you will learn the ropes quickly and thoroughly, and there are a plethora of trainings and workshops available for upskilling and expanding your knowledge. - I can't speak for all account managers, but during my Exec and SAE roles mine were great, supportive and thorough. - Client exposure from passing your probation. - Opportunity to learn from media owners directly, visit their HQ, and speak to them often as they hot desk in the office. - Promotions are available if you prove you are indispensable to the team – but don’t expect them to come quickly. - Free fruit, beer and wine. Summer hours (4pm leave on Fridays)
Cons
- Upper management (Business Directors and Head of Departments), are unapproachable, some are incompetent, and most BDs are so socially awkward that they will email you with last minute demands, but can't look you in the eye. - BDs and Head of Dept. day to day work is unknown by the rest of the company, and therefore leads to questions around their existence. - BDs and Head of Dept. are incredibly petty. They are more interested in why you aren’t chained to your desk, than any improvements to the account/positive feedback from clients. Passive aggressive all staffers are commonplace. - People are not valued as they should be. Strong talent is consistently lost because they are not appreciated/rewarded. It usually takes someone threatening to leave before they are offered any form of promotion/pay rise. - Execs should be celebrated more, they do so much of the work and yet they are ignored by BDs and Head of Dept. (many make no effort to even know who they are/what team they are on) - You will be expected to work long hours, with no flexibility in hours/location. - Some perks which are listed in the HR benefits don't apply to Performics because the Heads of Dept don't trust people to work from home, for example (even during snow storms!). They can also be funny about employees using flexi-time (which makes little sense considering you are still working the same hours) - Politics is allowed to get in the way of best practice by BDs and Head of Dept. We are forced to use certain buys/optimisations which are not fit for the client, but are tied in to global deals. - Pay: don't expect to ever be paid your worth (or even valued for your worth). I hate to think what the big dogs are on, but unless you’re one of them, you’ll be underpaid.
