Pros
More than anywhere I've ever worked, the people at PEI genuinely care about the quality and health of your life, and family, more than the business. There is a philosophy that if you're not happy to get up and come into work every day something needs to change. The president himself is deeply invested in every employees work/life balance and stress management. The leadership team wants to see the company succeed, but never at the cost of a negative impact to anyone in the company. They believe in investing in the future and well being of anyone and everyone, which has resulted in tremendous growth over the past three years. Plus the small size of the company allows them to experiment and change strategy on a dime, when something doesn't pan out the way they hoped. They take an appropriate amount of risk to stay at the top of their game, and use key performance indicators to measure those risks in order to truly evaluate their success. The work-from-home policy is industry leading, with a few roles spending more time at home than in the office. Of course you have to be able to get stuff done at home, and deliver on your responsibilities, but if you can do that they will extend their trust and work with you to find the best arrangement.
Cons
The company size hovers between 20 and 25 employees. This is a difficult environment for someone who wants to show up to work, get their tasks done, and go home without being noticed too much. It is impossible to hide in this company, and everyone has visibility into what everyone else is doing. That may not be what you're looking for, but if you do want that kind of transparency this is the organization for you.
Also, since PEI runs lean due to it's small size, it may not be able to directly compete with salary offers from larger consultancies. They make up for this with work/life balance and work-from-home arrangements that more than make up for the difference in offer packages. It depends on what is important to you. If time is your most valuable asset, don't you want to spend that time with your family and loved ones? And not sitting in traffic trying to get to some fancy office in the Denver Tech Center?
