Pros

PEI is a fun environment that is a 'work hard, play hard' atmosphere. There is always a lot of joking in the office and it has a Boulder start-up feel - beers and lunches in the office, people friends outside of work, etc. It has been my favorite and most satisfying job.

Cons

If you do not have the right personality you are not going to fit in. It is an interesting group of people and company culture means a lot to everyone - if you don't fit the culture you likely won't last long.

Pros

More than anywhere I've ever worked, the people at PEI genuinely care about the quality and health of your life, and family, more than the business. There is a philosophy that if you're not happy to get up and come into work every day something needs to change. The president himself is deeply invested in every employees work/life balance and stress management. The leadership team wants to see the company succeed, but never at the cost of a negative impact to anyone in the company. They believe in investing in the future and well being of anyone and everyone, which has resulted in tremendous growth over the past three years. Plus the small size of the company allows them to experiment and change strategy on a dime, when something doesn't pan out the way they hoped. They take an appropriate amount of risk to stay at the top of their game, and use key performance indicators to measure those risks in order to truly evaluate their success. The work-from-home policy is industry leading, with a few roles spending more time at home than in the office. Of course you have to be able to get stuff done at home, and deliver on your responsibilities, but if you can do that they will extend their trust and work with you to find the best arrangement.

Cons

The company size hovers between 20 and 25 employees. This is a difficult environment for someone who wants to show up to work, get their tasks done, and go home without being noticed too much. It is impossible to hide in this company, and everyone has visibility into what everyone else is doing. That may not be what you're looking for, but if you do want that kind of transparency this is the organization for you. Also, since PEI runs lean due to it's small size, it may not be able to directly compete with salary offers from larger consultancies. They make up for this with work/life balance and work-from-home arrangements that more than make up for the difference in offer packages. It depends on what is important to you. If time is your most valuable asset, don't you want to spend that time with your family and loved ones? And not sitting in traffic trying to get to some fancy office in the Denver Tech Center?

Pros

PEI offers a very friendly. family-like environment. I enjoy working here because of the warm culture where everybody is willing to share a laugh. Great examples of this culture PEI's our dog-friendly office and the monthly potlucks we have to enjoy each other's company. PEI is full of both knowledgeable and skilled individuals, and they make sure to recognize your individual contributions to let you know when you're doing a good job. They also fully support you if you'd want to learn new skills and expand into new roles. Additionally, they share the financial information about the company with the team, so you're never kept in the dark about how the company is doing. PEI has been growing rapidly in the last year due to a dramatic increase in clients, and I'm more than happy to be along for the ride. I've received work from home opportunities, a very generous personal time allowance (on top of my vacation time), and a competitive salary--just a few things that make me extremely satisfied with my position at PEI.

Cons

I don't have any cons to share about PEI. If there is ever anything negative, management is very open to hearing concerns and solving the problem immediately.
