Pros

I have been employed as graduate assistant while a graduate student. I did not have to interact with the Penn State leadership directly. However, the graduate student committee which served as liaison kept us well updated of the timely policy decisions and changes.

Cons

They have kept changing the student health insurance provider for innumerable times since my ~7 years at the university which is annoying. That said, as graduate student, benefits, promotion, etc did not apply directly to me as in a typical company. The health insurance package seems fair for single student, however it may be insufficient for a family.

Pros

They were very flexible with hours and it was a fun place to work. There was lots of downtime to do other things while on the clock, and an e-bike to get around campus quickly.

Cons

Toward the end they got pretty strict about keeping your computer on a certain tab to take online tickets, and you could get in trouble for not doing it. It’s tedious work overall.

Pros

Great Benefits, Vacation, Sick Days, Personal Days

Cons

parking is normally far away from your building, and normally growth within your unit is difficult, so you have to tranfer to another to grow.
