Pros

- They try and promote a positive atmosphere - Benefits above average - Feel secure in my job - Micromanaging is kept to a minimum

Cons

- Pay is not commensurate with experience. The last couple years the pay within my particular department has taken a plunge. Last years W2 was over 3,000 less than 3 years ago despite the fact I performed better overall. It's a bit disheartening to see family and friends salaries increase each year with their jobs while mine was chopped down and now remains relatively stagnant. The problem is compounded by the fact that Paychex continually reports record earnings and growth. It seems to me that unless you're in outside sales or senior management, they will only let you earn so much. I had considered switching to different departments but the positions that looked appealing came with rate decreases that were too much to absorb. At this point I feel kind of "stuck" which isn't a great feeling. I only hope in the time they'll review the slashes they've made in my area and reconsider some of the cuts. There was a time I thought I could retire from the department I'm in but now I don't think that's possible.

Pros

Paychex is a great company to work for. I’ve held multiple roles over 20+ years. There are always ups and downs, but for every position, manager, decision I disagree with, there are ten others that are outstanding.

Cons

It’s a large company with many opportunities to grow, but smaller companies may offer higher compensation.

Pros

Nothing is good about working here.

Cons

Nobody is ever held accountable. Pay is awful. Benefits were all moved out of state, so all providers in the area are all out of network. Jobs are being moved to India. The list goes on. Sales is the absolute favorite department in the entire company. Nothing sales can do is ever wrong, even when they give false information to clients and then the support team has to deal with the fallback. Don't get me started on Payroll.... the entire department has gone to the wind. I honestly don't know how this company ever did good with payroll services. The #1 complaint i got from every single client I interacted with was they could never get ahold of their Payroll Specialist. The company's response to this was to start making other departments learn payroll duties. This year they moved insurance benefits to a plan out of Arkansas, which made every provider I was already seeing become out of network. I had my first major medical scare of my adulthood and ended up paying a few grand out of pocket because U of R was out of network. Promotions are non existent. They make you apply and interview for any role you want to move into. There is nothing good about working here, and i would advise anyone to stay away from them.
