Pros
I really enjoyed working at PTC for over 5 years. It was a great place to grow with some fantastic colleagues. While I was working there, the company put a strong emphasis on people management and did a good job at promoting people quickly. They also made a good effort to make every office feel included as they opened up many new global offices. We were on a very small team but were always very aware of the significance of the contribution our team was making to the company. I also appreciated that the company was supportive in letting me work part-time to complete a Masters degree.
Cons
The company sometimes moves very slowly with a lot of bureaucracy, as most large companies do. They also did not always do a good job recognizing individual contributions, and the products suffered for it. There have been some major changes in the tech sector in the past 10 years and the company lost many opportunities because they were slow to adapt. What I've heard from past colleagues after I left was that the company has now gone to the other extreme and is very focused on innovation. Colleagues have told me that this has created a much more chaotic environment with plans constantly changing and with a lot more fear around job stability. I believe this is because of new management in the R&D team. It definitely sounds like a very different environment from the very stable place where I worked for several years.
