Pros

Good place to work for university students as you mostly work the weekends Get paid casual rate extra 25% Great learning experience and staff incentives (discount sometimes or home brand free) Isn’t busy every single minute Mostly everyone working there is easy to get along and are very helpful If you make it to casual manager you get paid per hour more than standard pay ($7 extra per hour)

Cons

Not a huge future or room for promotion, highest promotion you can get as a casual is weekend manager, which is great but you still only get 2 shifs per week as manager Limited shifts during non peak times

Pros

+ Colleagues easy to get along with due to similar interests - these guys will be the light in the dark. + Occasional staff dinners/social events

Cons

- Barely above minimum wage yet expected to work way beyond this paygrade. - Poor management. Both region-wide and store specific management. (upper management are pretty much all blood related and very recently have cut as many corners as possible for profits). - Time wasting customers. I get it, people come to the store to ask questions and validate their purchases but some of these freaks easily take up 30+ minutes of your time because they didn't want to do any research in their own time. I cannot count the amount of times we have had a till taken up by Mr. Questions while we have a huge line. Toxic environment with no room to grow. Always understaffed to push profits as much as possible. Look up any store on Google reviews and look for the complaints about time spent waiting. Management ignores these complaints and is happy to have 1, maybe 2, or even 3 if you are lucky, staff out front to serve customers resulting in 10+ people in line (pair this with time wasting customers as previously mentioned and imagine the line). If you are disliked, management will take any misstep to get rid of you. If you do not misstep, you will be relegated to another store instead (I have seen this happen twice in my time at PLE). Just all round a poor work experience. The only redeeming factor was my colleagues which are the only light in the dark known as PLE.
