Pros

Passionate frontline staff who genuinely care about animal welfare. Mission-driven work that could be meaningful with the right leadership.

Cons

Senior leadership lacks direction, consistency, and basic management capability. Decisions feel reactive rather than strategic. A toxic blame culture is deeply embedded. Staff are frequently made to feel anxious, scrutinised, and undervalued instead of supported. Employee surveys are treated as a tick‑box exercise. Feedback is ignored, and nothing changes despite repeated concerns raised by staff. Constant restructures create instability and confusion. Teams are reshuffled without clear rationale, leaving people unsure of their roles or future. Supporter donations are poorly managed, with inefficiencies and questionable prioritisation that undermine trust in how charitable funds are used. No real accountability at SLT level. Mistakes are pushed downward, while leadership avoids responsibility for systemic issues. Increasingly run like a corporate machine rather than a charity. The focus feels more on optics, hierarchy, and internal politics than on the mission or the wellbeing of staff.

Pros

Even after careful reflection, i struggle to think of a pro

Cons

Bad directors, bad management, awful culture, some very senior people are completey toxic. HR runs the show and its causing people misery. Since leaving i've realised a lot of the behaviours are very very bad indeed and hurtful to peoples mental health. I wish the remaining employees well and hope they too escape.
