The management team in general were not up to the job . I believe some of them failed at running their own company , so they weren't best placed to be advising others who did. The MD running innovations services at the time (who has since left) had an inflated sense of his own capability , he wasn't particularly confidential and he spoke negatively to about employees to others sometimes in public settings and he generally liked the sound of his own voice - took the credit for others success. I was made redundant along with many others when the company lost the Government's Growth Accelerator contract - however I really hated working here and I am now employed elsewhere in a much more supportive company environment.
