Pros

If they ever manage to develop a product it would improve healthcare.

Cons

Management are arrogant and completely divorced from reality . People making decisions are lacking in experience of what is required to get a product to market. Employees are treated like disposable consumables. They ask for blood and pay peanuts. No work life balance. Average of 4 layers of managers for each scientist. No respect for employees actually doing the work. No acknowledgement of people's hard work unless they are the management favourites (this does not imply they do any meaningful work). Company mission of improving people's lives does not apply to employees. No career progression. An average of two employees leaving each month. No healthcare. No overtime. Unpaid long hours.

Thank you for taking the time to write us a review. Feedback, good or bad is a gift. Osler is a purpose-led organisation, underpinned by practices and principles that we are all accountable to uphold; either as contributors or detractors, culture is something we all own. Osler is also a fast moving research and development organisation that is dynamic and often ambiguous. Whilst we do our upmost to hire candidates that we feel will thrive, demonstrating competencies and winning behaviours, or show us a desire to explore and learn those attributes; we know that not everyone will be fulfilled and/or challenged by the work and/or our ways of working. We also acknowledge that the dynamic nature of the work may affect roles and responsibilities outside of a candidates control. Where that happens we have done our upmost, with empathy and care, to work with individuals to pivot internally, or find fulfilling work elsewhere to continue their professional development. As we grow rapidly, it is reasonable to expect that not everyone will continue with us on that journey. With regards to some of your specific points: - Our turnover remains incredibly low. We hired 79 candidates in 2019 vs. only 6 that left. - In December, 2019 we rolled out an extensive benefits platform including private healthcare, life insurance and income protection security. - with regards to career progression we offer 12 development days annually and 4% of salary as personal development budget to ensure that professional development is aligned to the continuous improvement we desire as an organisation holistically. We review performance quarterly, salaries bi-annually and create development plans as part of that process. - Osler offer, where possible, extremely flexible working programmes. Once again, thank you for the review and we wish you every success in your onward journey.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re really pleased to hear that you’ve had a positive experience with the team and found colleagues to be friendly and supportive. We’re sorry to hear your concerns around clarity of direction and the company’s outlook. As an organisation operating in a fast-evolving space, there can be periods of change as we refine our strategy and priorities. That said, we recognise how important it is for everyone to feel informed, aligned, and confident in where we are heading. We are continuing to focus on improving communication around our strategy and ensuring teams have clear visibility of goals and direction. Your feedback is valuable in helping us identify where we need to do better. Thank you again for sharing your perspective.

Pros

Many incredibly talented scientists, engineers, and support staff that remain open and easy to work with despite operating under tight deadlines and incompetent management.

Cons

Abusive managers and ineffective HR. If you want to get shouted at by middle managers deflecting blame for their own inability to succeed, this is the place for you. On reporting they won’t be moved on, you will. Save yourself some time and avoid.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. As a new CEO, I’m sorry to hear that your experience did not reflect the kind of environment I am committed to building. I’m pleased you recognised the talent and dedication of our teams—this is something I’ve already seen and value greatly. At the same time, the concerns you’ve raised about management approach are important and are being taken seriously. A key focus for me is strengthening leadership capability across the organisation, with clear expectations around accountability, communication, and how we support our people day to day. I also have confidence in our HR team and the role they play in ensuring concerns are handled fairly and appropriately. As this review is anonymous, it limits our ability to fully understand and investigate the specific issues raised. If you would be open to discussing your experience directly, I would genuinely welcome the opportunity to hear from you. I wish you all the best in your future career. John Sperzel, CEO - Osler Diagnostics
