Pros
Ability to actually help people. Ability to be creative. For the most part, the employees are all good people and enjoyable to work with.
Cons
Compensation compared to the workload is lacking. Leadership is inefficient and not very organized. Mission of exemplary customer service often ends up compromised or at odds when it comes to 'rules of conduct' enforcement. They also pressure/force employees to take on extra responsibilities outside of their job description for $0 additional pay. Including making clerks perform duties that are the primary role of specialists who are required to have advanced degrees and are paid significantly more $. Way to many instances of verbal assault, threats or being otherwise accosted by patrons. People have way too much direct access to your person in this role.
