Pros

-Friendly and helpful coworkers and great culture if you happen to be on the right team. -Gainesville is a nice place to live for young people and families. -Good health benefits, a lot of office snacks -A huge potential for growth as a company if execs and managers can get their act together and get out of their own way. -Impressive how far company has gotten without external investment -Diverse coworkers from all around the world -Very slowly, CEO working to make positive changes

Cons

-NEPOTISM is #1, it's family company. The CEO, his sons and close friends get preferred treatment and opportunities. -CEO and managers condescending and disrespectful to rest of employees, act "holier-than-thou" -Calls itself a startup even after 19 years in business, use it as excuse for unfocused/naive business strategy and poor project management -CEO does not want to share control/power, makes decisions for company that are often impulsive and short-sighted. -A lot of employees with undefined job responsibilities, making them less effective/focused, leads to people stepping on each other's toes and no one has to take responsibility. -Undefined reporting structure ("flat" organization). Makes performance evaluation a nightmare -Compensation is below market value because they are use to hiring students immediatley out of college and are used to underpaying them. Management get "sticker shock" when experienced people apply for jobs in higher level positions -4 HR directors joined then left in past year, indicates lack of importance of employees to senior management

Dear Optym Employee: Thank you for posting a thoughtful and honest review. I appreciate the feedback and am glad to hear that you believe we have been successful over the years in growing the company. As with any organization, we are definitely experiencing growing pains and truly appreciate the efforts our employees are contributing every day. We are working with a number of consultants that are helping me in transforming the organization. With any transformation, this can take time and effort. I understand the changes may not be fast enough or impact the employees immediately but I am working diligently to make Optym an incredible company. I encourage you to reach out to Casandra Sanjurjo in the Human Resources Department to discuss the specific issues as it relates to your role and manager. Casandra is working with our HR Consultant, Pam Perry, to develop a focus group session for all Gainesville employees that is targeted to take place in mid-October. I know that we have lots of things to work on as an organization and I am committed to focusing on moving Optym forward in a positive and transformational way. Ravi Ahuja, CEO

Pros

Free lunch and Winter break.

Cons

This is a 'Lala' company where the CEO treats his employees as servants. They have to either fall in line or move out. He is not open to ideas. It is his way or the highway. His 2 kids are in executive roles and do NOT add any value. This is dying company with absolutely no future,
