Pros
PTO, students, great work-life balance, company parties are fun
Cons
Their is a lack of leadership at this charter. I didn't experience what others have over the 2016-2017 year but I started to see the beginnings of it when I left. OFL would change stuff on us all the time and the communication was lacking on the admin side. They were starting to implement more classroom instruction when I left, which we all thought was a bad idea, and it was so disorganized that we were all confused on what to do. These kids don't need classroom instruction, that's why they're at a place like OFL. If it didn't work for them at a regular school, why would it work at OFL? I don't know if they're still doing it but it was a mess while it was. Prior to becoming a teacher I was a sub/summer school teacher and they gave me the run around like no ones business. I was promised worked that never came, I was sent to a job where someone quit half way to try and recover the mess they left, and was blamed for that. I interviewed at least 4 times before getting work, in Palmdale of all places. I was well qualified for the job but if you're not a favorite of the leads at the site you're applying for...well...good luck. I'll be honest, I don't know why I stayed so long (4 years), it was super easy work, I guess and I loved some of my coworkers but in the end it was a waste of time and hope for something better there.
