Great mission, rough employer - Senior Portfolio Analyst Open Society Foundations Employee Review

Pros

They really want to make a difference and are--in theory--open to innovate and creative strategies to create open societies. They are not illuminati monsters. Generous benefits (at least in the past). Opportunities to travel (at least before Covid). Good work life balance. Amazing colleagues.

Cons

Echoing other reviews at present--so much tumult and turmoil due to non-stop reorganization exercises. Leadership is currently engaging in union busting--many offices are unionized because of rampant historical inequity. The very top and decision making is a (white) boys club, despite parading veneers of DE&I--lots of old white dudes getting grandfathered into senior roles where they have no business being and they never leave. As a result, the org has become top heavy and opportunities for career development are slim. Work culture and what the organization will look like in the coming months/years is a total question mark--they've decimated what once was.
