Pros

Some good people doing good work here.

Cons

- A Series A company that acts like a Series A company. Good product, horrific execution, hopeless leadership team. They haven’t got the experience to scale the company but due to their emotional attachment to the company, cannot relinquish control to people who have. - Obligo is a company where loud voices, hot takes, arrogance and badly thought-out opinions are placed way above thoughtfulness, competence, experience and reason. - Incestuous inner circle leads to an echo chamber of nonsense. - Obsessed with inputs; strangely, outputs are almost ignored. Obligo would rather somebody conducted 10 pointless customer / sales meetings rather than 2 good ones because the charts show more activity. Fun Facts: - Sabrina Carpenter’s song “Manchild” was written about one of the Co-founders. You all know which one. - Data dashboards outnumber employees by 300:1. Rumor has it that two people once saw the same dashboard but I don’t believe it myself. - In a recent test, 80% of the leadership team who manage teams failed to manage their way out of a cardboard box. - The “S” word is not tolerated in the office under any circumstances - Strategy. Obligo have been known to hire experienced leaders; once that mistake is realized, they quickly exit them from the company to avoid any threat of competency. - Recently discovered that partnership launch deadlines are actually reliant on work rather than just setting an arbitrary deadline and keeping our fingers crossed.

Pros

I have had a great experience at Obligo. Both Co-founders are fantastic. Smart, ambitious, but most importantly kind people that genuinely want the best for their employees. They promoted me and many others into taking on new responsibilities and challenges and providing them with the support they needed to thrive in their new roles. Broader leadership team is also great and by and large it's a bunch of really smart, hardworking people that are fun to be around and have hired strong teams that do excellent work. I'm very pro-remote work generally, but even the in office culture is strong. It's beyond just snacks and music, people genuinely seem to be enjoying themselves in the office, people choose to eat the catered lunch together instead of sitting at their desk looking mopey. It's also a product that could have a pretty profound impact on society. Helping people with financial flexibility at a time they need it most is always welcome, and it was good to contribute to something that is meant to make people's lives easier.

Cons

There are a few but none that can't be overcome. Planning could be a bit better but that's being worked on and also very tough to do when you're trying to be a nimble company adapting to a changing macro environment.
