Pros

Work from home, and that's it.

Cons

They expect perfection, but won't pay for it. They try to motivate the MLS by telling them that the patients' lives are in our hands with our accurate typing of their records, but they pay us like we are serving hamburgers somewhere. I am an experienced MLS and have done it for 20 years. I am paid the same as those with little to no experience. In addition to that, a bad or inconsiderate dictator can determine what my hourly wage is. The speech engine is horrible. Depending on the dictator, you have to edit almost every other word and cannot take your hands off the keyboard. It makes the same exact mistakes over and over and over. If it cannot understand what is dictated, it puts in non-sensible words that are ridiculous. I can type it faster with less effort, but they use the speech engine so they can pay the employees half the wage. I started as part time with the idea I would move to full time at a later date, but I am so exhausted after 4 hours, there is no way I could possibly do another 4. After all my hard 4 hours of work, I can barely make minimum wage. It is very disheartening and I would rather work a non-skilled job making minimum wage than work for Nuance.

Pros

The company offers excellent training and a thorough onboarding process, helping new hires feel well-prepared and confident. The small, close-knit teams foster a collaborative and supportive work environment where you never feel lost in the crowd. Employees take pride in the innovative technology and software being developed, which is recognized as impactful within the industry. (Note: The company was acquired by Microsoft to bring potential for future growth.)

Cons

While the company excels in many areas, there’s limited upward mobility, especially in certain career paths, which can be frustrating for those seeking advancement. Additionally, feedback from employees often feels like it’s not taken seriously, which can lead to disengagement when trying to influence change or improve processes.
