Cons
The culture drastically shifted after the hiring of the new Chief of Financial and Operations Officer, SBUX. What was once a fun, thriving, people-centered workplace became micromanaged, punitive, and confusing. Rules and expectations frequently changed without notice or clear communication. There was a growing sense that unless you were part of an unspoken "A-list," your input as a CM didn’t matter.
The work environment became anxiety-inducing; I began taking screenshots of my work out of fear I’d be questioned later, not as part of a constructive process but as a way to defend myself. In 2024, the company introduced performance-based incentives with set metrics. I met and exceeded every target, yet there was no compensation provided as initially stated. Scheduling changes—including days, times, and duration—were made without notice, making it nearly impossible to plan or maintain a healthy work-life balance.
Leadership, particularly in operations, often felt out of touch with the day-to-day responsibilities of frontline staff. Communication was condescending or emotionally reactive, and operational decisions were made based solely on data without understanding the actual workflow. At one point, it was discovered that a major section of work wasn’t even being counted toward call percentages, which only added to the frustration.
I voiced all of this clearly in my exit interview and was told by HR that I was not the first to do so. I still have friends at NOX who are struggling under the same conditions but don’t yet have the means to leave.
