Toxic leadership and zero stability - talented people keep leaving - Anonymous employee NowSecure Employee Review

Pros

The only real positive here is the people. There are some incredibly smart, kind, and hardworking employees who try to make the best of an unstable situation. Most of the good work that happens is because of the employees, not because of leadership.

Cons

Leadership is completely lost. There’s no real direction, no accountability, and no consistency in decision-making. The company lurches from one bad decision to another, wasting money and talent in the process. Layoffs happen so often that no one ever feels safe, yet somehow the same ineffective managers and out-of-touch executives stay in place. The “unlimited PTO” policy is a joke - you’ll feel guilty for even thinking about taking time off. Morale is low, communication is terrible, and the overall culture has become one of fear and exhaustion.

Pros

Market rate pay. Basic benefits package. Remote work policy…for now. Unlimited PTO except several complaints from employees to HR that they aren't ever able to use.

Cons

Antiquated leadership (some with anger issues) trying to shine up a 10+ year old turd of startup likely for acquisition. Steer clear of this startup at all costs. Absolute sinking ship. Have now gone through 2 rounds of layoffs in the last 6 months after the CEO made promises in company wide meetings that there were safeguards in place to avoid layoffs at all costs earlier this year. The way they conducted the layoffs were also unnecessarily cold and calculating. Aren't supportive and basically screwed over affected employees, after telling current employees otherwise to save face. Then instructed employees not to contact them, leaving everyone in the dark. Effed up. Insulting severance package that's well below the tech industry standard (clearly a sign that things are not going well?). Passive aggressive and defensive CEO, esp in his company wide emails. Advice to prospective job candidates: Especially if you're an engineer or technical professional, look elsewhere. There’s a good chance you are you are in demand in your field and the product at this company is a mess. Seems like they consistently can't keep up with latest OS updates.
