Pros

Coworkers are great to work with.

Cons

The management in the Mt Pleasant office, for the most part, has never worked elsewhere and has developed their own twisted way to run business. They do not listen to their employees and inappropriately bring religion into the workplace, blame everything on employees under them, take credit for everything successful, create insecurity within the office, and don't understand that "work culture" is an organic thing that happens when you treat people right.

Pros

Pay is honestly pretty good for an architecture firm (like, actually competitive) Schedule is super flexible, which makes life 100x easier People genuinely listen to your ideas… you don’t feel dismissed or ignored Team cares about design and your opinion, not just checking boxes Communication is clear and people respond quickly (rare lol) You don’t feel micromanaged, they trust you to handle your work Leadership isn’t intimidating; everyone’s approachable The vibe is collaborative, not cliquey You can bring up an idea and they’ll actually consider it Workload feels normal, not “I’m going to cry at my desk” Projects are interesting, not repetitive or boring You can grow here without begging for it Office energy is good, no toxic weirdness They actually care about people, not just deadlines

Cons

Things can move a little slow sometimes You end up doing a lot because you’re good at it Some processes could be more organized Overall, normal work cons lol

Pros

The person that organizes BIM, he is great.

Cons

The firm is NOT people positive. The Executive Management Team (EMT) is the group at the top that makes all the decisions. The decision making is reactive verses responsive. This translates to triage for every project and places an unnecessary burden on the production staff. This way of thinking creates turnover, burnout and inefficiency. The entire focus is on how much money the company loses. What they fail to understand is that profitability is related to a happy workforce, efficiently staffed projects and working resourcefully not overtime. The next issue is the lack of transparency. The firm does not provide a safe environment for its staff to be honest. EMT lacks the courage to face discomfort about negative feedback or be open to solutions from experienced architects that have worked at many other firms. Instead that person either is removed or there is no follow through with the information. This creates fear. EMT seeks opinions and suggestions only from people that have been only at Novus. It is a regurgitation of an archaic way of thinking and there is no room for growth, investment in training, or willingness on their part to be uncomfortable enough to grow and change for the better because that takes time and EMT is only interested in short cuts.
