Pros

I wasn't there long enough to have seen any pros

Cons

About a year ago I interviewed for a management position prior to their opening. I wasn't hired at that time due to the low salary. At that time, someone I knew also applied for part time and was hired at a low hourly rate. This past summer, this woman told me that the owner was interested in my joining NBC. I told her I was happy where I was employed. I was getting a great hourly pay plus benefits. In August, my friend again told me the owner was interested in me working there and would I come talk to her. When I walked through the door the owner made a big deal... Oh my gosh what do I have to do to get you on board here with us? I really want you to be a part of our team, blah, blah, blah. I said, make me your best offer. I told her what my pay rate was at my current position and my benefits. She said she was so excited and would speak to her husband and call me. In the meantime I thought a long time about leaving where I was. I finally decided if the money/benefits were the same or better I would take it based on it being closer to home and better hours. I received an offer from her on/about August 24th. My title was to be Froster/Operations manager. I accepted. I started work on Monday September 4th. I worked 9/4,9/5,9/7,9/9,9/10, 9/11. Every day I was told that everything was great. She and her husband both expressed how happy they were that I was a part of the team. I told them how happy I was to be there. I was enjoying learning everything I could about NBC. Wednesday morning, 9/13, I was due in to work at 10:30. As I was getting ready, I received a text from the owner instructing me to read my email. In my email was a termination letter telling me not to come back and our business relationship was over. I tried to call, she wouldn't answer. I wrote and asked what I did wrong. She said I did nothing wrong. She just decided that she didn't want to pay me what she was paying me. I left a secure position to come work for her. She courted me away from my job. After 6 days she apparently decided she had buyer's remorse? Is this the business model NBC subscribes to? I am a single parent. I have a disabled dependent child and now no job. She knew all of this. How heartless can a person be??? I did my job, I did all that was asked. The emails back and forth show that to be true. My previous position replaced me when I left so returning there was not an option. I've been a cake decorator for 30 years and quite frankly this was one of the simplest jobs I've ever had in terms of getting up to speed. I also heard that she did this to another person 2 months earlier after they left a secure position to join her "team". People with no business or management acumen or experience shouldn't be able to buy a franchise just because they have the money. Unless you're looking for a temporary, futureless position, run don't walk, far away from this one.

Pros

Pretty easy job once you get a lot of practice under your belt. Easy to find purpose if you like serving others.

Cons

Don’t expect to get any issues with your paycheck or any HR-related issues resolved. Terribly unresponsive and unprofessional. Was overcharged over $400 in health insurance, HR finally acknowledged that there was a problem and promised a refund months ago, but have been getting ignored since. Also won’t let you see or know how much PTO you have. Always short-staffed and busy. Felt like I was always in survival mode or getting taken advantage of.
