Despite acquiring valuable insights into all functions of Human Resources, my experience at Northside Hospital's HR Benefits & Shared Services Team was overshadowed by significant drawbacks. The department operates with an autocratic management style, heavily reliant on antiquated practices that stifle innovation and resist change. This has fostered a toxic and politically charged atmosphere, lacking in genuine career growth opportunities. Furthermore, the prevalence of the Peter Principle within the team suggests a culture where long-term employees are promoted beyond their competence, impeding the department's efficiency and morale. Young, dynamic talents seeking a progressive and inclusive environment might find these conditions particularly constraining.
