Pros

Learning the food industry! Get in and get out!!!!

Cons

The most unorganized company I have ever worked for! No body in upper management speak or understand English! They try to convert you into a Japanese citizen! The people they make lead are childish and are the worst people you will ever have as a manager! The words and the things that happened there made me quit trust me when I say this is not worth it plus the pay is way below what you should be getting. You might be desperate to get a job but by all means skip this one.

Nippon Shokken Response

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate all suggestions and input, whether positive or negative. We’re sorry to hear that you did not have the best experience. It is true that certain company culture are adopted from Japan, such as the morning stretches and cleaning. The intention is to energize in the morning, to be mindful of the workspace, and also for everyone to understand the company’s goals and visions. We aim to combine the positive aspects of the Japanese and American culture, not to change citizenship or identity of an individual. We understand that language barriers occur, and there are employees who assist with these issues if there are any issues regarding to communication. It is inaccurate to claim that none of the managers speak or understand English. Their English may not be of native fluency, however, they do their best to communicate. They check the daily reports submitted by their employees and respond to those who has submitted and be proactive with the communication processes. We respect and appreciate all the hard work our employees put into making Nippon Shokken U.S.A as we are today. Promotion and placement to upper management is based on a structured process where decisions are based on job requirements and needs of the company. We have been fortunate in the past to promote hardworking, diligent employees from within and hope more positions will be available when qualifications are met. We appreciate the feedback we receive and are regularly striving to improve. Changes may not always occur overnight, but I truly feel that Nippon Shokken U.S.A wants the best for the employees and slowly implementing new procedures that benefit both the employee and the company. Thank you again for sharing your experience with us.
