Pros

There is a very loyal - albeit rapidly dwindling - customer base. These people have largely been with the brand since its inception thanks in large part to its former spirit of fun and encouragement.

Cons

Company management is one of the most maligned in the outdoor industry. Prior to the last quarter of 2012 the brand was staffed by people who worked there because of what it stood for - not solely for a paycheck. After that point there was a very clear shift toward people who had no background in the brand's dynamic both internally and as it related to the customer experience and relationship. In 2013 the wheels came off and Newton began to turn its back on everyone who had been there - from sales to tech reps to marketing. At this time, new management was ushered in by investors in the way of a new president who receives universal disdain from everyone in the outdoor industry. - The turnover at Newton is comical so there is no job security. - Benefits are mediocre at best while pay is always met with some sort of a claim of poverty. - Working life there is stressful, one because you never know when you'll be on the chopping block (as 18 people found out one day in 2015 when they were all fired at once) and two, because any form of opinion or questioning direction will result in dismissal or outright shunning. - Management has allowed this to all take place by placing their heads in the sand. In particular, those who used to run human resources were never once and advocate for an equal voice among employees. Rather, they'd put the corporation first at every turn without listening with their good ear to all sides. - Employees who are newer are frequently stepped over and on by management, including some with issues that affect performance - which is then passed off on others.

Pros

This company has some of the most amazing people I've met that are passionate and caring, it definitely was a great social environment.

Cons

The company itself is not doing well which makes certain aspects of the job very difficult. Was not treated with any form of respect by the (now former) president. Didn't have the proper resources to do my job well.
