Pros

Good pay; talented and hard working employees.

Cons

My perspective as a former employee with a 10+ tenure, is that Newmont today is no longer the company that puts its employees first. If you're looking for a job where your every move is scrutinized and your creativity stifled, look no further than Newmont. Once you're hired, get ready to be micromanaged to the point of insanity. Every task, no matter how small or insignificant, will be scrutinized and nitpicked by your overbearing supervisors. Forget about autonomy or independent thinking - at Newmont, you're just a cog in the machine, expected to follow orders without question. But the toxicity doesn't stop there. Office gossip runs rampant, backstabbing is the norm, and a culture of fear and mistrust pervades every corner of the workplace. Management plays favorites, pitting employees against each other in a never-ending competition for approval and recognition. If you value your mental health and well-being, steer clear of Newmont.Their hiring process is a nightmare, and working there is even worse. Save yourself the headache and find a company that values its employees as human beings, not mindless drones.

Pros

Good Benefits and great pay, pension, 6% 401k match

Cons

Newmont has gone through 5 layoffs in 5 years. The most recent is currently ongoing with an estimated 3000 people globally being let go. The last layoff ended in April and employees were told that it would be the last one for awhile. This layoff was announced in August, so 4 months is all they went without starting another one. The employees don't trust the company anymore because of the repeated lies about layoffs. Newmont says they aren't making money with gold at record highs yet they are building all new offices in Australia and Costa Rica that are state of the art. If you have the choice go somewhere else. The other big issue is that no one in management takes harassment or retaliation seriously. Even when it's a Senior Manager harassing their employees (me). I went to HR and the managers boss, everyone swept it under the rug. The manager then retaliated against me for going to HR, I brought that up to HR and was told "no he is allowed to say what he wants and pull you from any task for any reason".
