Pros

They have a reasonably complete benefits package: 401(k), DB plan, health, employer term life insurance, etc. Rank and file employees are extremely hard-working for the most part and they tend to believe strongly in what they are doing. There is a stated valuing of diversity and some efforts to put that into place.

Cons

Management down to the business-line management level seems to be misguided or uncertain. Stated recognition of employee individual contributions is contradicted by a fill-a-slot reorganization mania in the past 5 years. Investment in infrastructure has not been adequate, though I hear that this is the case with most US companies. I also think that they business line management allows itself to be controlled by outside interests too much.

Pros

-For the most part, the people you work with are good people. Made real lifelong friends and mentors. -As with all large companies, there are plenty of opportunities to advance and/or move around if something isn't a good fit. -One of the rare places still offering a pention

Cons

-Office politics promote plenty of people who don't deserve it and the teams happiness is highly dependent upon who you end up reporting to -WAY too much false urgency created by bad leaders -Big company means slow moving in all the stuff you want to go fast. Often times too many cooks in the kitchen
