Pros

Interpersonal relationships were great, lots of great people and great atmosphere. Casual atmosphere and largely a joy interacting day to day.

Cons

Imagine a nice house, built on the beach, with the foundation slowly eroding it away. That is how I would describe the day to day decision making of the department I was a part of. Decision makers at the top blindly moving forward in a direction that cannot be functionally supported with the infrastructure beneath them. Hours of lost man hours fixing things that could have been addressed with the proper knowledge and experience not afforded to them -- all due to interpersonal hit jobs against those who want to, or care to, make a difference. Need something fixed? Only take a few minutes to resolve? Sure -- but it'll actually take hours/days/weeks as the process is broken and opinions to the contrary result in penalization or, worse, termination. Poor infrastructure? Sure, we could put a fix for that in the budget, but a shiny new product nobody asked for is our priority. Want to be a part of the employee satisfaction survey? Great -- your voice can now be heard -- but anonymity won't be a part of it, and we'll use off site technologies. If you can't have anonymity, why bother with security? Lots of talent and up and coming, motivated people -- relegated to the sidelines doing meaningless busywork as opposed to identifying and leveraging their unique skills.
