Pros
Work from home, flexible schedules.
Cons
Be very careful regarding your pay and hours worked. SSA will stop your benefits if you exceed the monthly earnings limit. You are given a nine month grace period, but if you gross more than $1620 a month after that you lose your entire disability benefit for that month. If you continue to earn over the limit your benefits stop completely, and it may take a very long time (over a year or two) to get them back.
NTI glosses over this when you sign up, and I found out the hard way. I was earning roughly $10-15 over the monthly limit for a year, and SSA stopped my benefits and charged me several thousand dollars for overpayment of benefits. This was catastrophic for my finances and it took me several years to recover.
Please do your research before you accept a job, as SSA’s rules are complicated, and NTI does not do a very good job explaining them.
