Pros
Next has a good online portal that allows you to check your rota, your payslip, holiday etc., and also offer up your shift or pick up extra shifts. Can potentially get good benefits if your store and service hit their target. You tend to do something different each shift so you gain experience in different areas, such as suits on menswear, delivery, roomsets, etc. You get 25% discount.
Cons
They expect far more than they should for minimum wage. My store is often short staffed, so management expects one of us to do the work of 3 people. And it's not even like we're short staffed because someone calls in sick, it's because they're are not enough people rota'd in. Sometimes people can't go on their break because we're so shortstaffed and/or they're the only person on their department. Sometimes managers put us in for shifts even when it is out of our availability and so shouldn't be able to, I've even been told by a manager before that they get told to put us in at these times. You have every right to say you can't do it, but they get annoyed about it, and you have to ask them multiple times before they actually do anything. Sale day can be horrible, as in the lead up you can be put in for really early or really late shifts, and then on sale day, it's manic.
