Just like any other Indian product based organisation, there’s an unfathomable race going on in Myntra of that of individual contribution. This work culture makes organisations toxic. In Myntra there’s no concept of team. I mean your team mates will not even introduce you to processes that are unique to Myntra. When approached manager, he will not entertain you. His response is simply you should know this. New joiners are especially confused with the processes and struggling to understand how to get things done and keep asking for help. Team mates would come up with procedures and tell the manager but will never share with you. The worst part is if you are working on a project your team is not aware of it. For some reason if you are unable to go to office then you will find yourself in a very difficult situation. You will receive calls that there’s some issue and you have no context and have no idea what to do. If you call colleagues and manager they won’t answer the calls and if you miss their calls then it will be put in review.
Another aspect of work culture is that the team size, the management believes that smaller the better. As a result there’s too much work and less manpower, it usually ends up working late hours. Certain tasks are to be done in off hours (late nights or early mornings) but nobody even recognises it even if you are working for more than your physical and mental capacity. Despite this the ratings depend on how close you are with your manager, if you ever had an argument with your manager then you have definitely lost your ratings. If you make a mistake, your own team laughs behind your back including manager and is certainly part of your annual review.
Nobody will ask you at what time you come to office and what time you leave it but no matter what you are expected to be available whenever required. If you are not then it will be in review. It’s like the organisation has bought you by paying salary and you have no personal life. Manager won’t care if you are on paternity leave or vacation. If any one of the team mates resigns then you are in more trouble, because of small team. Hiring new guy takes forever.
Overall it’s hectic and dirty work culture.
