Pros

Beer on Fridays? decent pay.

Cons

cramped work space, constantly harping on do work not meetings then schedule meetings then scheduling meeting 5-6 hours a day. regular late night "emergency" builds. Talk about finding solutions, but much more commonly its all about placing blame. Massive brian drain, all the senior programmers had left the company, and the senior qa's are all looking for new positions.

Pros

The people - talented, team oriented, fun group to work with that is very committed to the success of the company and each other. It really feels like everyone believes in what we are doing and has a piece in driving us forward. Leadership - passionate about MyHealthDirect's mission and very transparent about what the company is doing, why they are doing certain things (or not) and how the company is performing each month. They are easily accessible, and just nice people you can respect and enjoy working with. Just one example: When I joined the company, the CEO took me out to lunch in my first few months to get to know me a little better and see how things were going so far. Company making an impact - Nashville is the hub of Healthcare. Healthcare is complicated, and this company is really making an impact in simplifying access and improving the overall outcome. I love working in healthcare because you can see the impact is has on actual people, and this company definitely has (what I think) is an exciting mission and value proposition that directly impacts real people's lives. Culture - very transparent, feels like family, collaborative, flexible, mission oriented, community focused, fun place to work with happy hours on Fridays and serving at a local Rescue Mission monthly as a team are just a few examples. Benefits - I found the health coverage to personally be very competitive. They have a 401k match that vest immediately (love that). In addition, they offer 3 days a year (in addition to the PTO they offer) to take off and serve as a volunteer in the community or out of the country! I had never seen that before, and am planning to take advantage of that this year.

Cons

The starting PTO is on the lower side from what I was used to. It does grow pretty quickly after 2 years of employment though.

Pros

We are making a real, tangible impact in improving our customer's bottom line while changing the delivery of healthcare! People are great, and really buy into the company's mission. Company culture has gradually improved over time. Application development is transitioning in-house from an outsourced model, which should result in a drastic improvement. Office environment is open, supporting transparency and collaboration. Coffee, tea, soda, snacks and beer (Friday afternoons only) are complimentary. Company allows up to 3 paid days annually for community service. Company is dedicated to investing in employees, whether through professional organizations, conferences or (relevant) certifications. Some stale, moldy bread that had been lingering around for the past couple years has finally left, which is allowing for change and growth - both internal and external. Comp is fairly competitive to the market; performance bonuses are paid around end of Q1 and company is transparent with target metrics and finances; many different benefit options to choose from; 401(k) match is average; PTO can be negotiated.

Cons

Company is still in search of process efficiency to support scaling as it continues to grow. Technology is viewed as a solution to problems, which has resulted in disparate applications with no plan to consolidate. Performance evaluations are a bit of a crapshoot; some teams/depts "perform better" than others. Work/Life Balance fluctuates from time to time, depending on projects and deadlines.
