Pros

- Supporting a good cause - Office is in a good central location - Hybrid working A great stepping stone in my career. Being forced to work outside of my remit strengthened my skill set.

Cons

I wish I had listened to the reviews from 2017 before joining, because nothing much has changed since. - Lack of transparency with significant changes - HR does not take matters of bullying and harassment seriously. When women complain about their male colleagues acting inappropriately, or when Muslim female colleagues are deemed to be dressed 'un-Islamically', they are given an Islamic lecture - Senior management is rude to staff, with unrealistic expectations and no direction. All workload is reactionary - Workload level is exploitative, and staff are often disturbed during AL, weekends and evenings - Poor campaign planning and coordination between departments. All departments are at war with each other Office politics rules the way the organisation runs. When I told my manager that I didn't want to play their games, they said, 'That's just office politics, yeah? Get used to it' - Gaslighting when staff voice their concerns, I was silenced many times when I tried to question my manager and director for their questionable decision-making - A genuine fear of all internal and external accountability

Pros

The work that Muslim Aid is doing on the ground is wonderful. Benefits and salary are good.

Cons

Work is not targets-based. The senior management is not hard enough on employees, especially under-performing ones and the accountability is lacking. More focus needs to be put on long-term sustainability and moving away from donor.
