Cons

Sexism. The lack of gender diversity at the company is horrific, and there have been no efforts to improve it. The problem isn’t just hiring women - it’s retaining them. Women on the team have to fight tooth and nail to have their opinions heard. The women often have their credibility on their subject matter expertise questioned by people who know nothing on the matter. The general consensus from many women at the company is that if you want to excel in your career, you’re going to have to do it elsewhere. Also they work you way too hard and burnout is a huge issue.

While we have improved the representation of women on our teams (29% in the US), we know that we still have work to do. Most importantly, our managers are regularly trained on unconscious bias, inclusive leadership, anti-discrimination, and building trust and psychological safety on teams. As a company, we know that the only way to succeed is to take care of our team and make sure they are healthy and happy on every level. In addition to providing mental health support through Lyra Health, we offer a generous PTO Policy so employees can take care of themselves whenever needed. Pros

Strong people and culture. Genuinely good colleagues, a collaborative environment, and a place where talented people want to do good work. After many years here, the quality of the people is the thing I'd point to first. Real mission and real product. The work matters — building technology that has a tangible safety impact in the physical world. That gives the work a sense of purpose that's hard to find elsewhere.

Cons

Leadership and organizational clarity could be stronger. As the company has grown, clearer direction, more consistent decision-making, and steadier organizational structure would help people do their best work. Uncertainty. Periods of structural and strategic change can create a sense of instability that's tiring over time, even for people who are otherwise very committed to the company.
