Unfriendly Work Environment with Unclear Expectations - Anonymous employee Moore & Associates Employee Review

Pros

This company offers a decent salary and they were prompt to schedule my interview and have me start.

Cons

1. Management is not very friendly and the CEO tends to have angry outbursts. You better have thick skin. 2. I was never given any training and the expectations of my role were not made clear to me. I think the problem is that because it is family owned, many of the managers are not qualified to lead their areas. So the employees are expected to overcompensate. 3. You are not given very much time off, especially during the holidays. 4. You will be expected to do door-to-door marketing - even if you don't work in the marketing department. This was something I was never informed about before I started. 4. There is an abnormally high turnover rate.

Pros

I have been working full-time at this family-owned company for over 2 years. During that time I have been promoted twice. I have also had the opportunity to travel all over the country. The work can be hard but I truly enjoy it. My colleagues are easy to get along with and everyone works as a team. The owner has high (but not unreasonable) expectations. He never asks anyone to do something he wouldn't be willing to do himself. He is always willing to pitch in and help meet a deadline. I have learned everything "on the job." If I don't know how to do something, I look it up, ask for assistance, or see if there is a class I can take. The company pays for any work related education! I believe the key to succeeding here is communication. If you aren't sure how to do something, ask for help! If you don't think you can meet a deadline, let your supervisor know. Either, the deadline will be adjusted or someone will be assigned to assist you.

Cons

Can be very long hours and at times very stressful.
