Pros

The best team I've had the pleasure of working with. The people at Moonshot have an amazing variety of experience and really look out for each other. The work is varied, fast paced and incredibly interesting. The benefits package is excellent and includes ample leave, health care and development opportunities such as conferences and training. There's even a budget available for any staff who want to carry out their own research and development projects.

Cons

As with a lot of companies there are 'crunch times' at Moonshot that may lead to you working a some lates and weekends. There have also been a few phases of rapid expansion that can be a bit chaotic but we've always come out them a better organisation.

Pros

I just began working at Moonshot and wanted to speak to the recruitment process. I really appreciated that from the very first interview, they mapped out the process in transparent detail and did not stray from it throughout. The process was thorough and I got to know a lot of staff members and learn a lot about the team culture which helped make my decision easier because of the rave reviews from the team.

Cons

No cons. It was a long process but so worth it and the team was communicative and responsive throughout!

Pros

The work was very rewarding and many of the team members were great to work with--very supportive and most clearly care about the mission. I built up a lot of great skills and worked on fascinating projects. The benefits are quite good (despite the salaries being quite low compared to market averages).

Cons

After a few years there it became clear that their management structures and appraisal system is pretty broken. There's no clear system to promotions and there are clear favorites of upper management. Some of the managers are extremely toxic and have essentially forced several people to quit through bullying tactics. There is a general lack of support for analysts / lower level managers when it comes to burnout and acknowledging effort / expertise, despite the company paying lip service to things like mental health support. e.g., they'll give you burnout leave if you raise the issue but you'll be punished for "poor performance" when you return. It's not a sustainable place to work for more than a few years, especially given the severely low salaries and no cost of living increases.
