Pros
I work as an adjunct professor of First Year Writing. The department leaders are warm, inclusive, and smart. The curriculum for College Writing I is fun to teach, and I really like the student body. (Many of my students are quite engaged in class, though it is a freshman requirement, so not all of them put in the requisite effort). I used to teach full-time K-12, so teaching college students lets me get back in the classroom without the slog of behavior management, discipline, long hours, parents, and all the other less attractive parts of the teaching world.
Cons
It's a public university, so there is a cap on pay for adjuncts. The amount of classes they let each professor teach also varies by semester based on student enrollment. It is better as a side gig than a full-time income source.
