Pros

Portland office is nice. Chill space. Lots of company sponsored activities, short days, company sponsored drinking, and lax oversight. Plus bring your dog to work.

Cons

Catastrophically incompetent CEO has put the company into a death spiral. He has no discernible vision for the product, doesn't understand the market, and has promoted (or recruited) terrible managers. How the company has survived this long, I'll never know. Customers are leaving in droves for options that are both cheaper and more capable, and massive layoffs have gutted the company of talent and energy. To top it off, the CEO doesn't even live in Portland!!! He flies up every week!!! How much is THAT costing the company?

Pros

The people are great. They are smart and friendly and generally willing to help out when they can. The benefits are above average. Work schedule is flexible with regard to working from home when needed. You can have dogs in the office.

Cons

Management has not demonstrated the ability to maintain focus on a single plan for the future. Much of the downward spiral that was the last two years I would attribute to the constant thrashing of priorities as everyone was changing focus to work on the "new" big thing. The end result was that nothing got accomplished and all of the products were left woefully behind the competition. Communication is not as transparent as it could be. In a company this small, it is critical to keep everyone in the loop of what is happening. This was not always the case. Often things were simply not shared. Other times only half truths were shared or data was misrepresented. No one is asking to be at the table with the executives. All the employees are looking for is open communication about the direction of the company and the plans for the future.
