Pros

Good pay and bonus structure. Exposure to a wide range of technologies and projects. Opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment. Team members at the peer level were generally supportive.

Cons

Lack of formal communication regarding role changes. No structured training or onboarding when responsibilities shifted. Performance evaluations not aligned with original job roles. Internal politics can heavily influence career stability; conflicts with certain higher-level staff can affect job security. High employee turnover within teams, with several team members leaving or being laid off within a short time, indicating serious retention challenges.

Pros

The mission is inspiring, and everything on paper screams: fast-paced startup making data-driven decisions that leave a lasting impact on Africans everywhere. But behind closed doors, it's not really like that. Although the design organisation is doing everything possible to achieve great things, we are constantly hindered by the incapabilities expressed at C-suite level to product level.

Cons

The org says they're data-driven, but I consistently get demanded of to deliver on designs without a single data point from PMs. And the product org is point-blank a joke. I have never worked with such disappointing product management in my career before.

Pros

The Human Resources Department always kept an open room policy for complaints and concerns, which was a mirror of the character competence required from me in my role. They walked the walk without having to talk too much.

Cons

Products delivery always needed iterations and improvements based on literacy and evolving customer demands in the markets. But that’s not a novel Con peculiar to the company, it’s an expected challenge for every enterprise that wants to scale.
