Pros
WHAT I’M ABOUT TO TELL YOU IN THE HONEST TRUTH ABOUT MONDO…. I’m a Technical Recruiter who recently resigned at Mondo, and I must admit, it was a bittersweet ending to the best job I’ve ever had. Before joining Mondo, none of the “bigger/powerful” agencies wanted to give me a chance, as a matter a fact some saw my qualifications as a dis-advantage because I preferred finding engineers through meetup’s and repositories over Monster.com and CareerBuilder. One interviewer even told me that I didn’t “have enough job board experience”…Are you kidding me?? and your agency is supposed to be the best in NYC. It wasn’t until I interviewed at Mondo, where they saw my qualifications as an advantage rather than a dis-advantage, unlike some of their compertitors. They took me in, and along with perhaps the best management team in IT Staffing in NYC (I’ll put my money on it); they turned me into a recruiting monster and allowed me to flourish. I was on a team at Mondo that made more placements in company history. There wasn’t any requirement my team and I were not filling. There wasn’t any hiring manager we came across that didn’t want to work with us. This was mostly because they allow you to recruit the way you feel most comfortable and provided you with a fantastic culture and the best resources in order to succeed. The best part about working at Mondo is that they’re just so much different than your average agency. As a recruiter, you never have to worry about job security, because your what this company is selling. Most agencies (especially the big one’s) only care about “stupid” metrics and leads, which is why it’s stressful and boring to work at these places. Mondo doesn’t concern itself with these things; they’re in the business of developing recruiters and sales reps, and polishing their skills instead of counting their calls. They’ve created the perfect balance between recruiting and sales in order to place candidates at almost every company in NYC. They also have a fantastic consulting relations program, which retains almost every contractor who ever worked through Mondo. No other agency does this. For a recruiter, this is gold. They also offer a “Startup Type” environment, which is rare in IT staffing. Your in a innovative office, where your provided with top technology to do your job, the best training in order to compete, and best of all it’s very interactive and collaborative. The culture is young, friendly, and fun, as opposed to the suit and tie /cutthroat places I’ve visited in the past. And unlike most of these other places, they allow you to mentor anyone who's less expereinced than you are, while also allowing you to introduce new practice, not only in your office, but company wide. If you see a problem, instead of telling you to mind your business, managment asks "how can we fix it, or improve it" They have some of the best benefits ever, including 401K, health benefits, unlimited vacation and time off, monthly incentive bonuses, in-office manicures, shoeshine, snakes, and massages, company vacations, and "forced fun" days. They allowed me to expend my phone bill every month, allowed me to expense any meetup fee I had, and if I want to take a consultant to breakfast, lunch, or dinner, guess what it's on Mondo. They have 9 offices across America which also have the same perks. If you ever want to relocate to any of these offices, then Mondo will relocate you at the company’s expense. All you have to do is ask. THE BEST part of all of this is that you get above market base salaries (this I guarantee), and you get your commissions at the end of every month. Mondo is the only agency that does this (I guarantee this as well). I LOVED working at this company and with all of the folks there, from the CEO all the way down to the most entry level person there. In one year I made more money than I ever could’ve imagined. I ended up placing 25+ candidates, 2 of which were executive level candidates. Before Mondo, I never even worked on anything executive level. Despite my success, this wasn’t even as successful as some of my colleagues while I was there. I saw recruiters placing anywhere from 7-10 people per month. I even witnessed sales reps place 10+ candidates, one girl even placed 25 people December alone, which literally has about 12 business days. It’s just remarkable the successes that young folks like myself are having at Mondo. I decided to leave Mondo because I was given a rare opportunity to influence a major product on the Internet. It's a dream opportunity but an opportunity I would’ve never gotten if I didn’t spend a year at Mondo. The decision I made wasn’t about money, as a matter a fact; I most likely would have made more if I decided to stay. Instead of being upset or resentful about this, my manager at Mondo was very understanding, respected my decision and allowed me to leave in good terms, and wished me nothing but luck in my new adventure. This was something I really appreciated. If you’re a recruiter, sales professional, or a hiring manager at any company in need of a technical resource, I highly recommend that you consider Mondo. CEO, Michael Kervin simply gets it in-terms of tech and staffing, particularly in NYC’s competitive environment. He's the first staffing leader/exec to put his/her company in a unique position to help both the CTO/CIO and the CMO, no other company does this. As a recruiter this means MORE PLACEMENTS AND MORE MONEY. Along with his executive and management team, Michael Kervin has painted a clear picture for where he sees his company in the near and distant future, and the opportunities he’s presented to his employees are endless. MONDO IS ONE OF THE BEST PLACES TO WORK IN NYC (ask Crains), AND SOON IT WILL BE ONE OF THE BEST PLACES TO WORK IN ALL OF AMERICA. THIS IS FROM SOMEONE WHO JUST LEFT THE COMPANY, AND IF GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY WOULD CERTAINLY NOT RULE OUT RETURNING IN THE FUTURE.
Cons
THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO CONS ABOUT MONDO… Mondo is a place that provides you with what you need to succeed. The people that are still there are very successful, make a lot of money, and are having the times of their lives while working. These people all work very hard. Anyone that has ever been let go, fired, or left in bad terms are people who simply didn’t work hard enough. These are the very few people who probably wrote a bad review about Mondo. I know all of these people and most of them still wish they worked harder so they can still be at Mondo, because they learned the hard way that there isn’t a staffing firm like it anywhere else. If you’re into working hard and playing harder then Mondo is the place for you. TRUST ME you’ll have the most fun at a staffing agency, while working on cool requirements, and making a lot of money. If your not into working hard or only willing to work 90% hard and not 100%, then Mondo isn’t for you. Go do advertising or PR if that floats your boat.
