Pros
After buying our FBO from a smaller company, Modern invested in our facilities: they upgraded our computers, our wifi, our business software (to X-1, which I really like).
Cons
They didn't invest in our people. Line service techs at other Modern locations earn twice as much as we do. HR told us it wouldn't be "fair" to pay us the same as employees at bigger locations because they make more money. Nevermind that it's the same job, we each do more work because there are fewer of us, and we have very little say in how many planes land or how much fuel they take. HR misled us about retaining our vacation and sick days. Ultimately I chose to leave due to the change in management style in the direction of micromanagement. I have loved my job. Loved coming to work. I'm proud of my accomplishments over the past 5 years; the busy days of jet traffic and the extreme weather and the unusual situations and the emergencies I've handled and the people I've made happy...I'm honestly broken hearted to leave this job. Broken hearted that Modern Aviation doesn't give two rat tails about the blood sweat and tears I've given this job. They only care if I'm more than seven minutes late or early, and other things that don't matter in the grand scheme of things. I worked so hard. And Modern has made me feel like none of it mattered. Like I haven't earned enough trust and respect to take two days off for a stomach flu, or haven't earned forgiveness for making wrong decisions when I had Covid and fever. I'm so incredibly disappointed and sad, my confidence destroyed.
