Pros

The nurses on the medsurg floor work as a team. If someone is done with their tasks they will help you get caught up with yours. Great environment if you are new because most of these nurses have been with the hospital system for 5+years at least and love to teach. The employees at SMC in Osceola are great! RN Medsurg manager is very approachable and professional, you can tell that she cares about all the nurses on her unit.

Cons

When the floor gets busy the workload can get a little overwhelming but like I said in the pros, your fellow nurses will help you, they won't let you drown in your work.

Pros

Small rural hospital able to keep nursing skills current

Cons

The current admin does not value staff with seniority. The environment is not inclusive. The admin is taking advice from nurses with less than a year experience or new employees. There is no place to advance unless your are a relative or friend of a member of the admin. The CEO is working as a NP on the floor, ER , the pain clinic and still working as the CEO. Members of admin micromanage the staff so middle management has no voice of importance.
