They seem to pay people relatively well.

Where to start? There's many bad things about this company but one of the worst things is that the technology doesn't actually do what it's supposed to. It's sold as an insurance scheme of sorts but fails 99% of the time which means 'engineers' are left to pick up the pieces. Leadership is ego-driven and focused solely on money and there's an incredibly strange culture where people don't actually say what they really think, they'll turn a blind eye to things they know aren't right. My conclusion is that they either do this because they enjoy the 'clique', go with it because it may lead to a promotion or they just like their existing salary too much.
