MicroStrategy was a good company that has slowly then very quickly become unfathomable to work for as it pertains to a sales culture. As I read through other entries it becomes obvious which are legitimate and which may have been "requested" by internal forces. It upsets me a great deal that I agree with most of what the negative entries say as I did enjoy a decent amount of time at MicroStrategy. It's nothing short of tragic what has become of what was by most accounts an industry leader in BI.
There are companies with bad executive management. There are companies with terrible executive management. Then there's MicroStrategy. There is one single person that makes every decision at this company. He's the judge, jury and executioner. To then provide the illusion of power to anyone else MicroStrategy has cut the front line and filled up the executive floor. You can't throw a rock on the 14th floor at headquarters without it hitting 7 different VPs of some obscure process. If by some miracle you don't hit a VP you'll hit a contracted worker there hired to do these recorded "cadence calls" ensuring that the sales team acts as directed.
Between the executive management, the complete and utter disgrace that is a marketing department (I still don't know what they do there besides prep for the GMAT or Facebook) and the always changing comp plan I can't in good conscious recommend this company to anyone seeking employment. Years ago this was a fun, growing tech company and therein lies the tragedy.
