Did you know that if you drop a frog in a pot of hot water it will jump right out? But, if you place a frog in a pot of water at room temperature and slowly raise the temperature, it will stay there. This is what service became when I worked there. In the beginning, the job was demanding but acceptable. Then revenue per hour requirement started to be raised with no explanation for why. Then how many orders you resolved in a day was expected to be higher, even if it was at the expense of the quality of work. Thresholds continue to slowly rise until you’re breaking a sweat and having 20 min lunch breaks. You will be placed in ridiculous situations and have to find some way to work your way out, over and over again.
From my understanding, this department used to be a great stepping stone for people to enter the world of IT/software. Unfortunately, it seems that HQ has decided to turn it into another sales department and are squeezing every technician for all they’re worth.
Advice: wait until 2022 or 2023 for the pot to cool off.
