Pros

You have the pleasure of working with some of the most knowledgeable and hard working people you will run into in a retail establishment. It is a wonderful part time job while in college. They give good medical coverage but it is difficult to afford it due to the low pay.

Cons

There are many. Corporate is incompetent to put it mildly. It is sad that vendors come in and complain to you about how bad your corporate employees are. The company will employ people in stores that are vastly overqualified, overwork them and then are surprised when they quit or leave. They will ignore issues or problems for long periods of time only to make snap decisions without thinking of the consequences of their actions. They continue to lose more long term and higher quality customers by focusing on low priced minded or income demographics. Everyone you will run into is overworked; managers are given the workload of what most other retailers have three or four people do, sales associates are forced to work 8 hours a week for $4.00 a hour which is their base pay doing heavy manual labor of unloading and stocking shipments multiple days a week. I have seen multiple people physically break down over the months of working there and require major medical treatments. They reduced sick time leave, so during the cold and flu season everyone there is sick because they can't take off even if they could afford too. Do not work here any more than a short term stint. There is absolutely zero upward mobility.

Pros

Customer obsessed culture with a strong emphasis on expertise and service. Leadership is highly engaged, with consistent focus on coaching, accountability, and development through structured one-on-ones and daily execution rhythms. Clear expectations across sales, service, and operations create alignment on what success looks like. The organization provides exposure across multiple business functions, allowing leaders to build well rounded operational and commercial skill sets. High performance environment that rewards ownership, initiative, and results.

Cons

As a smaller, specialized retailer, organizational growth and upward mobility may take longer compared to larger big-box companies. Resources and infrastructure are still evolving in certain areas, which can require leaders to be more hands-on. High expectations and pace can create pressure during peak periods, requiring strong prioritization and resilience. Some systems and processes have a learning curve, particularly for leaders coming from larger, more standardized organizations.
