Pros
- Relatively free to design course structure (within reason) - Benefits are above average - Values diversity
Cons
- Pay is very low, everyone is overqualified - Impossible to be promoted even from within, someone always has someone specific in mind when hiring, picks favorites - Dinosaurs rule the college and are completely out of touch with the student experience. Worse so, they don't seem to care at all about students - Longtime staff cares more for their cushy positions than the college's mission - HR is mean and rude to everyone all the time for little to no reason. Meanest people I've ever had to deal with, and most people are nothing but nice to them - Extremely political, people pick favorites, likes you for no reason, or dislikes you for no reason - Attitude by longtime staff is outdated, stubborn, "my way or the high way", "if I had to struggle so should everyone else" - Communition break down at every level, refusal from anyone with any real authority to address this. - Will overwork you and assign you to half a dozen committees that you have no place in being assigned to - Demands growth but stubbornly refuses to invest to create such growth
