Good place to learn the basics of the Cable Service Business, pretty much it. Medical Benefits are little high price in standard, but gets the average employee by just barely in today's hard economy. Upper and Middle Management in this company are treated exceptionally well, despite what any of them would say to a lower employee about it being so hard, the job is cushy as much as one can make it. from time to time you will get company related gear as you work there..
Cons
Starting Wages are very low for the industry and not in line with time value of money.. Wage start was the same used over 11 years ago. There is no room for any negotiations it is a flat take it or leave it approach, Job Difficulty always increases and the pay stays unchanged, Pay Raises are done once a year and based on (fixed - not actual) performance metrics making raises if any given sub par to the industry, This affects Customer Service related positions, all other departments and management are exempt from this raise practice.. Also they abuse the Meal Time laws in any state they can by forcing employees to stay 30 Minutes unpaid for Lunch.. Lower Management at more times then not can be difficult to deal with.. Upper Management is never available for internal escalations and are basically hidden away.. When there is problems brought up, always a threat of retaliation, just leave the company attitude, or no follow up to the issues that should be addressed (brushing under the rug).. Moving up in the company is very difficult when lower than management, needing to submit a resume for each new internal position, but basically it is the buddy system that controls the internal moves not the resumes.. for the amount of difficulty in low positions, Vacation, Sick and Personal days you can take off are all very low based on the norm.. even working a long time with this company again if not in Management not much a Benefit. With the lack of support network for lower employees, work issues never are addressed any attempt to create one or even as much as a simple suggestion box always got killed off by Management.. Also there is no bad weather forgiveness they rather have you risk your life to work or use a personal day.. Management of course always exempt. Too Many Management tiers in the company and the wrong type of people in Management are in those positions at the time I left.. Lower Position computer workstations are made difficult to use on purpose to add a stress factor to the work environment. beware of a lot of Micromanagement as you start on most low end jobs that are usually available. it causes a lot of stress and medical issues in short time to anyone that has been through it.. including myself..
