Pros
Metro Auto Auction's CR Writers are under their fleet department, with a great manager. The environment is laid back, with flexible hours and friendly managers (in the Fleet and Arbitration department only). The pay is acceptable for the amount of work required, as long as you still live with your parents.
Cons
-Going through previous reviews, these all seem to be VERY long standing issues- Holidays are hit and miss, it depends on how close said holiday falls to a scheduled sale. After a ton of pushback, they would sometimes offer a free day off if you worked a holiday, but you could not rely on it. Little to no notice on if we were required to come in. The upper management is very uninvolved, leading to a near constant change of procedures and rules. With nonstop staffing issues, the lower level departments often have to pick up slack for others, and help out with things that detract from their own work. This is often used against said department. Poor hiring practices leads to drastic spikes and dips in workload, therefore unstable hours which ultimately lead to layoffs. Their long standing employees were making roughly the same as brand new employees, even though you "qualify" for a raise every six months. They provide little in the way of relief from the harsh weather. Our supervisors would often recommend sitting in a car to cool off or heat up for a couple minutes but when another department saw us doing just that, they would go straight to the general manager Scott, to "snitch" on us. Harassment, racism, and sexism are all "frowned upon" but extremely rampant in almost every department, with seemingly no intervention. HR is unreliable at best, with only one person in the department. The communication is non existent, and she couldn't even be bothered to remember the names of roughly 10 employees in my department after months of interactions. Wage theft does seem to be an issue. On one check, I had worked 96 hours but only received 1 hour of overtime. After going back and forth, I did get the additional hours added to my next check, but that should have never happened in the first place. It's often that on the 15th and 30th of each month, your department manager will automatically clock you out at a certain time to "streamline payroll" but there were times where we were made to stay after that set time. OUR manager always adjusted the next worked day if that happened, but it's a slippery slope. Employees were at times, punished for following NAAA inspection standards, all because the dealers weren't happy that we were nitpicking their vehicles, or that we had graded them accurately. Dealers are allowed to bring in as many cars as they wanted as late as the night before the auction. The lot ops and CR team have to stay until it is too dark to do the job, and then come in early to cram the leftover work in before the 9:30 sale.
