Pros
MLC looks good on your CV and is an excellent stepping stone for career growth.
Cons
I worked in ESL and experienced bullying - managers who had tantrums, shouted and called people names; intentionally being left out of meetings that impacted my work; and even a manager who violently punched her desk most days. The Head of Department regularly made staff members cry and encouraged a very poor work/life balance. Senior staff would undermine new and younger staff by staying past 5pm until 7pm or later and working on weekends, making those who worked within their hours or those who had other commitments look lazy. During my time there was also zero professional development. Department funds were used to outsource work for managers rather than investing in staff development or up-to-date workflow software. Due to bullying, there was little to no career progression, no compensation or benefits for excessive hours, and while "diversity and inclusion" was frequently talked about, it was in words only. Occasional lunches did not make up for the toxic work culture.
