Cons

• Merit Mumbai is the worst company to work for. They do not have any office in UK just a spokesperson to interact with clients. The Mumbai office work for very prestigious clients but they do not know how to take care of the employees working for those clients. • You will be caged like an animal to sit in front of your laptop due to most useful app the company has created for itself called as the Time-logger. They want to monitor how, when, where you worked, ate, drank, peed, pooped, farted etc. • The AC in this office is not monitored properly. You'll either freeze to death or die due to suffocation. • The ladies toilet has overflowing drainage water and sinks like hell. • Higher management sits in Chennai. They have no idea of what is going on in Mumbai. They apply useless rules and regulations without even spending any time with their employees in Mumbai. It works in Chennai so it should work in Mumbai too is their attitude. CEO and COO will come just once in three months to give their darshan in Mumbai. • Leave policy is out of the world. They have problems with people taking planned leave, so forget about the chaos they create when people take unplanned leave for a day. • Incentives are given on the basis of your attendance and not your work. If you have worked really hard for a project for a month and fallen sick for a day you won't get incentive for that month. People who fight for their incentives are neglected or given some amount to keep their mouth shut. Rest all have to suffer in silence. • The reporting managers have no manners to talk to their employees. They shout from one end of the passage to the other. A lady manager (The most toxic person with extremely bad behaviour) in one of the teams has a sicken ego and attitude problem. She really needs behavioural training, team management training and should be taught how to talk to people. If not, people working under her will surely commit suicide. Unnecessary torture and very primitive point of view adopted. Fights with employees a decade younger to her instead to teaching the right way. Not open to new ideas. Lost two important projects because of childish behaviour. She might have spent a decade working in this office but the lesson learnt is zero. • The HR is good for nothing. • You won't get to learn anything here other than gossiping, talking to clients or people on the phone in the UK or Middle East to get information from them.

Thank you for your feedback. I would like to clarify a few points here: Merit has a UK office and you can find the address in our website. We have our Sales Director and other Senior Sales professionals and client relationship managers working from UK. I had mentioned this earlier as well that time logger is a tool to help every employee manage their time better. This is the only way for us to track how much time has been spent on which projects and how profitable they are. All that we expect people to do is mark yourself on break or meeting when you step away from your system to ensure that the margin calculations arriving out of the system is accurate and not skewed. We have never chastised staff for minor increases in breaks or idle time but we do need an overall picture on which projects soak up the most hours. As far as the AC and toilets issues are concerned, the landlord has to resolve this and they are working on this. The offices are very clean, bright and new (we are the first tenants) and well maintained in general but these two things clearly need attention. But we need the landlord to address them and they have committed to resolving it or we will withhold rent. With our Head office in Chennai, our CEO and COO work out of the Chennai office. However, both of them visit the Mumbai office every other month to get an update on Mumbai operations. They also meet with the team members to get some feedback. They have also been open to having 1-2-1 sessions if anyone wants to talk to them. When some make use of this opportunity, some choose to just keep cribbing. At no point have we a record of you wishing to speak with either. As far as the leaves are concerned, they will be approved based on the work load that the team has and the leave balance available. Unplanned leaves have an adverse impact on our service deliver and it has to be kept to the bear minimum. The Managers have always been understanding when it comes to dealing with both planned and unplanned leaves. Incentives are based on various parameters of which attendance is one of them. Attendance alone does not carry a 100% weightage. If anyone was unhappy about this, they should have highlighted this to the managers and the HR team and we could have resolved any issues around this. Any feedback around specific individuals should be brought to the HR team and we will handle them on a case to case basis. Where HR fail to give a satisfactory response all staff have the option to speak with the head of operations in Mumbai or indeed the COO or CEO himself. You have clearly not done so. The HR team in Mumbai handles the various activities such as Quarterly Laurels program, fun activities that you have had in the recent past and also handle the other processes around your payroll and statutory requirements. Merit strongly supports its employees to continuously learn new subjects that will help them perform better in their roles. I had personally nominated about 3 - 4 people for some short term courses and any employee who wished to undertake training or development courses will be supported by the company both financially and in terms of time off. We recently brought some TLs and Managers to our Chennai office for leadership development program as well and we will continue with more of these initiatives. It will be very useful if people raise your concerns with the right people at the right time so that the same can be resolved rather than venting out your frustration on online platforms. No one gains anything by doing this. It is better to bring the problem to the table rather than discussing about them in forums which will not get any solutions for the same. Thanks.
